Space Warriors - Devlog
This project is a fast-paced, one-screen arcade action prototype built around survival, timing, and score chasing.
You’re dropped into a small arena and immediately overwhelmed. Enemies spawn in waves, attack in cycles, and force you to stay mobile. The longer you survive, the harder it gets — and the higher your score climbs.
Gameplay
The core loop is simple and focused:
-
Dash to reposition and avoid damage
-
Time your dash correctly to gain brief invincibility
-
Slash through enemies with your sword
-
Survive as long as possible to push your score higher
There are no levels or breaks — just constant pressure and escalating chaos.

Why I made it
This project was built as a combat-focused prototype, with an emphasis on:
-
responsive player controls
-
readable enemy behaviour
-
tight arcade-style feedback
-
creating tension in a small space
The goal wasn’t polish or content depth — it was testing whether the core mechanics felt good.
What I learned
-
How important timing and invincibility frames are for fast combat
-
How enemy pacing affects difficulty more than raw numbers
-
How much replayability can come from a simple loop done well
This prototype is intentionally minimal, but it captures the foundation of a full arcade survival game.
If you want, I can also:
-
shorten this into a storefront blurb
-
rename it with a punchy arcade-style title
-
or align it stylistically with your other devlogs so your itch.io page feels unified
